The Shops at Houston Center Announces New Tenants to its Popular Downtown Destination
Kelsey-Seybold Clinic to Relocate its Current
Downtown Location to Better Serve Patients
Houston, TX—April 15, 2010 – The Shops at Houston Center, downtown’s most popular dining destination with more than 30 restaurants and home to more than 35 specialty retailers, is excited to announce its newest tenant – Kelsey-Seybold Clinic – Downtown at The Shops.
A medical clinic, as well as a new pharmacy, will occupy 23,000 square feet at the new location. “Kelsey-Seybold has been a long-standing fixture to the downtown community,” said Dr. Spencer Berthelsen, chairman of the board and managing director of Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. “We are pleased to bring our practice to The Shops at Houston Center and expand our ability to bring more services and continued quality care to the downtown area.”
“We are thrilled to provide our downtown clientele a high-quality health care provider with the addition of Kelsey-Seybold at The Shops at Houston Center,” said Bob Boykin, managing director of leasing. “The new location will give them even higher visibility and greater access to the downtown work force. This is exciting news for downtown.” Kelsey-Seybold Clinic is relocating from 1 Houston Center, where it has been located for the past 35 years.
With construction about to commence, the space is expected to be ready by December 2010. Other new tenants to The Shops at Houston Center include two restaurants – Robeks and Basil Thai, both scheduled to open early summer of 2010. Chick-fil-A is currently being remodeled and will re-open on April 20. Ninfa’s Mexican Café recently remodeled and re-opened in late 2009.
“The Kelsey-Seybold lease marks the beginning of the total repositioning of this property by offering dining, shopping and medical services to the community,” added Boykin.
Located in downtown Houston, the 196,127-square-foot enclosed Shops at Houston Center is just blocks from George R. Brown Convention Center, Four Seasons Hotel, Hilton Americas, Houston Pavilions, Discovery Green, Toyota Center and Minute Maid Park. Debbie Wilson, vice president of leasing at Houston Center, has been instrumental in working with Kelsey-Seybold to make the move to the new premises. Page Southerland Page architectural firm is developing the project and Linbeck Contruction is the general contractor.
