Strip House

Houston, TX, August 24, 2006 - No one doubted that another steakhouse would do well in Houston, but no one really knew just how well the Strip House would do. Houstonians have been eating up, literally, the sexy new Strip House Houston (1200 McKinney Street, 713-659-6000) since its opening almost two years ago. And now, CitySearch just announced Strip House is the 2006 Winner "Best Steak in Houston" with a sophisticated menu & sultry ambience.

Strip House Houston, which is owned and operated by Peter, Penny and Mathew Glazier is located in downtown Houston in Houston Center. Strip House Houston is blocks away from Houston's only Four Seasons Hotel, and is in the same neighborhood as the new Toyota Stadium, home to the Houston Rockets basketball team. When asked what attracted him to the Bayou City, Chairman and CEO of the Glazier Group, Peter Glazier stated, "Houston has a diverse food scene, a vibrant social setting, and people with discriminating taste. He continues, "Since the mid eighties, when I was here for business, I felt this city and I had a future together. When we decided to expand into another market, we were motivated by the cities commitment to rejuvenate downtown."

Executive chef John Schenk, brings Houston diners his most popular and acclaimed dishes which Robb Walsh of the Houston Press calls "some of the best steaks in the city." Schenk's menu is full of juicy cuts of meat as seen in his Double Cut Strip Steak, Veal T-Bone, Filet Mignon and his decadent side dishes which Walsh deems "nothing short of spectacular" Truffled Cream Spinach, Goose Fat Potatoes and Bibb Lettuce Salad delight the palate. John DeMers of Arts Houston Magazine states, "Since sensory pleasure to the point of excess is written into your contract here, you'd do well to shop a little harder. Everyday creamed spinach...gets a kick in the pants and pocketbook by black truffle. And one of the best potato products we've ever put into our mouths is the Crisp Goose Fat Potatoes."

The architectural visionary behind The Glazier Group's Strip House is David Rockwell who plays on the double-entendre inherent in the name.

The luscious, all-red interior adorned with rich, luxurious materials including silk, velvet, leather and trim is enhanced with seductive, rosy lighting and the walls are adorned with photos of vintage burlesque stars. Penny Glazier describes Strip House Houston, "as an environment that engages the senses."

The dining room can seat up to 140 people and forty in the bar area. There will also be three private dining areas, two of which will seat twenty and the other seating thirty, as well as a private party room, which can accommodate up to 100 people.

Strip House Houston is open for Lunch: Monday - Friday: 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. and Dinner: Sunday - Thursday: 5 - 11 p.m., Friday - Saturday: 5 p.m. - 12 a.m.
